On Sunday May 6, 2012, long-time Oliver resident, Mr. Roland Rosario Therrien passed away peacefully at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 87 years. He will be fondly remembered by his loving family including; his brother Aime of Coquitlam; daughters-in-law Lynn of Kelowna and Dolores of White Rock; four grandchildren Nicole and Russell from the lower mainland and Tyler and Aundrea of Kelowna; ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as special friends Roland and Marie of Oliver and Jean and Marise of Penticton. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Irene Marie; sons Ronald and Norman; grandsons Jacen and Ryan; brother Denis, sisters Alida, Lucie and Louise as well as nieces Claire and Loraine. Roland was born in Lorette, Manitoba on November 27th, 1924. There he farmed alongside his parents Ernest and Aline until he married and then moved to Maillardville, BC. Roland worked in the lumber industry until he semi-retired in 1971. At that time, he and Irene moved to Oliver in the sunny Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, where he resided for over 40 years. Roland will be remembered for his wonderful carpentry work and his lovely flower and vegetable gardens and his love of birds. A funeral mass was held from Christ the King Catholic Church with Fr. Gabriel the celebrant.
