2020/2021 Oliver Ambassador Anika Franzen-Brown said “my year as an ambassador is definitely not exactly what I expected. My time as a candidate was an amazing learning experience, and the type of pick me up I needed at the time. The Oliver Ambassador Program has done a lot for me. I’ve had the amazing experience of sharing speeches, especially on topics I’m passionate about. I got to learn more about the small town I had recently moved to which helped me become more affiliated with not only this heritage, but the people who live in it. I am so very grateful for the opportunity I have been given. I have made friends, gained more confidence, and most importantly I’ve had a blast while going through it all. It was such a pleasure this past weekend to watch these amazing candidates present themselves and triumph. I was also so very glad to meet royalty from other communities and finally put a face to some people. Thank you to the town of Oliver and the Oliver Ambassador Program, without you I would have never experienced this in my lifetime. Thank you for your immense support.”
2020/2021 Oliver Ambassador Phi Thai said, “this past journey was a learning experience as a candidate and ambassador. This program has helped me greatly with my public speaking and especially my confidence. I could not be more grateful for this program and the opportunity to make new friends, meet more people and learn so many more skills that will, later on, help me in the future. It was such a pleasure getting to know all the ambassadors from other communities as well. It was an honour representing this town this past year and I will forever cherish the memories I made throughout this year. Thank you to the Town of Oliver and the Oliver Ambassador Program for your support.”
