Saturday morning one of the Pelicans of a group of 23 on Tucelnuit Lake decided to take advantage of the wind. He performed quite the high aerial act right above our house. It was so bright I accidentally clipped a little of his wing when I snapped this photo.
We dream that all the Pelican action the last few days are Mr. P.’s family searching for him on their way back to Stum Lake for the summer. Little do they know he has healed well from his injuries and is currently flapping his wings in a large enclosure at the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Burnaby getting ready for this long flight “home”.
He’s been luxuriating in a new pool built especially for him and eating extremely well during a daily routine of exercises while his badly injured wing was healing after surgical procedures.
After 6 months of TLC Mr. P. is almost good to go!
