A woman remains in critical condition in hospital, and a man has been taken into police custody following a serious assault late Wednesday night in Osoyoos.
On April 8, 2020 at 11 p.m., Osoyoos RCMP were alerted to a woman in need of possible medical attention inside a residence located within the golf course subdivision. Frontline officers responded to the home where they located a 60-year-old woman in medical distress, suffering from obvious trauma.
The victim who suffered what are believed to be life threatening injuries, was transported by BC Emergency Health Services to hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
A 62-year-old Osoyoos man has been arrested in connection to the incident. Roderick Ashley Flavell has since been formally charged with aggravated assault by the BC Prosecution Service and remains in custody at this time.
“Both parties were well known to one another, police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public,” says Sgt. Jason Bayda, Osoyoos RCMP Commander.
