Photos and story by Kim Santos of Kelowna
“My heart has been warmed day after day hearing about people stepping up, donating time and materials during this crisis. If you are doing any more stories on people who are making PPE, my mom, Lia Pinske of Oliver, has been sewing up a storm over the past couple of weeks making scrub caps for healthcare workers, specifically nurses at PRH. She has a few ladies from her church making hats as well, one who works part time as an ICU nurse at PRH. She has been using the fabric she has collected as well as some that people have donated to her. She is giving these away completely free as she wants to give back and help in any way she can. She would scold me for putting her name forward as she is not in it for recognition but if it inspires someone to help in any way they can, I feel that would be worth it.

Kim said – “these ones are a little more subdued in colour but she has been making some brightly coloured/patterned ones because she feels they are happier and will inspire more uplifting moods during this difficult time.”
