Received two telephone calls Saturday – one from a relative and another from a friend of long standing in the business world. Both said the same thing. When is this insanity going to end?

One said that once war is declared the first victim is the truth? All hands on deck we are off to war – the enemy is such and such – they/it is bad – there is no second story or another side to it.

Now I have been a professional fence sitter most of my life – I see two sides if not more than that.

I agree there is only one story. ‘Stay at home’.

Now we live with that present reality and maybe more to come – a lock-down, a cop on every corner – the other story or the other stories are not being told. Let’s take the big one. The economy.

How long can a lockdown last before the bubble breaks. How much money is in the safety deposit box and what to do when it is empty? Have you heard what could happen to our health if we are cooped up for too long? A rise in suicide, domestic violence, general un-wellness – not related to Covid19 in anyway? How many people will lose a job, all their plans down the drain.

Do we care? or is the Big Story a new tv drama every day – no escape. A new daily soap opera of waiting for more and more big numbers to scare the living ____ out of us. Then we need more TP.  Then we go to the store, mask and scarf in hand to hoard more supplies.

Let us go back one year to flu season in 2019. How many cases of the flu were evident in Canada and how many people died of that? How many people older than 70 died of natural causes, heart attacks, strokes, cancer, MV accidents.

Do we have those statistics as a counterpoint to all the SAME facts, same story, the BIG story facts – that government is giving us – the same people telling us to stay at home, do as you are told etc.

I am not expressing any opinion here – I am just opening a door  for fresh air or letting you howl out the window. Geez.
