To be bold is to be fearless in the face of danger or rebuff, to not hesitate to do what needs to be done. One can be bold in the defense of a child. That feels natural. The really BOLD act is the one that stands firm against the danger of rebuff, what might happen if bold action is not taken. As they say, ‘be afraid and do it anyway’. That kind of action is grounded in a personal Value. Strong incentive we have here
A bold move is one that most would not take. To be bold is to stand out and do what others won’t. Sometimes that is as simple as being first to volunteer for even something quite small, like going first up to the karaoke microphone. The consequences needn’t be massive in order to be recognized as bold. And… it takes boldness to become the leader and then again and again to be the leader. Good leaders are bold
Bold people are not defined by body type, lineage, athletic ability, IQ or anything like those. They are defined by what they do. I once wrote a poem about the crocus and referred to it as ‘this bodacious thing, self proclaimed harbinger of Spring’. The crocus precedes and announces the coming of Spring while the weather is still saying no, no, no to the sprouting of other plants. Indeed, a bold plant it is
Bold stands out. The tallest poppy is warned to get it’s head down, the leader becomes the target for attack. How is this? Our Leaders point the way, show us it can be done, encourage us to march on, even in the rain and the sleet and the snow. Most of us are minions, most of the time. Where would the world be without the bold? Oh, oh. I say a big thank you to the bold, even when I feel uncomfortable around them
Bold brings attention. We need boldness to yank us out of our lethargic lives. Signs that flash are trying to get out attention. Bold people do bold things to get out attention. They do the hard things the rest of us won’t do. When the bold person has a bold message for us, well, wow, we notice. When the bold message is positive, encouraging, helpful we might even join the messenger. Thank you to the bold.
