While returning from Penticton Saturday afternoon at 3pm, and approaching the bridge at the intersection of Green Lake Road and Highway 97, a double bogey wheel assembly flew off the rear of a moving semi trailer vehicle heading north. It was coming straight for us, in our lane, necessitating an evasive manoeuver, to avoid a 400 pound missile coming through the windshield.
Net result, we ended up taking out the stop sign and impacting the adjacent power pole.
The double wheel assembly ended up 100 m up the road in the ditch. The safety features of the Tesla almost certainly saved our lives. We were fortunate to be able to walk away from the wreck.
Also returning from Penticton were local residents, Heather & Jack Frank, and Jack Bennest, who were able to assist in getting us home and to the hospital for assessment. Our thanks to them all.
It is great to know that there is outstanding community support in our small town.
