This award recognizes an individual youth member who has demonstrated a commitment to our community and has made extraordinary volunteer contributions.
Abby was nominated by Lori Martine, Youth Ambassador Coordinator. Lori states that Abby Teigen is a young woman with a gentle and generous heart.
Abby has been involved with the Oliver Ambassador Program for the past few years both as a candidate and as an ambassador.
She has volunteered at many local events, arriving early and leaving last. She always came prepared to roll up her sleeves and do whatever was required of her, from face painting and doing crafts with children, to serving tea and helping with senior’s activities.
Abby was always available to volunteer for local non-profit groups, Oliver Parks and Recreation and the Town of Oliver events.
Throughout her travels in the province with the Oliver Youth Ambassadors, Abby promoted our community by networking with other youth, and sharing the virtues of our town with all those she met.
As a high school student, Abby faces the usual stresses of coursework and preparation for university applications. She has managed to keep her focus on academics as well as participate in many school volunteer opportunities. She has served as a leader in her school and is involved in many student groups which include the drama club and was cast in a supporting role in this year’s production.
Abby has very strong family values. Despite her busy schedule, she always makes time for her family and friends. She is a very positive person, and deserves to be recognized for her quiet, but undying Spirit of Oliver!
