During the period running up to the election in October it is the policy of Oliver Daily News to invite candidates to send in a picture and a write-up about themselves. Some have done this already and others are now just preparing such a “blurb”.

There are strict rules on advertising and periods of time when this can be done. I have asked the returning officers to spell all of this out to the public.

ODN will also print pictures and bio information prior to the last advance poll date and election day, October 20th.

There is likely to be an all candidates meeting in Oliver and Osoyoos and we shall cover those.

ODN will also restrict the use of the publication for debating on the main page and in the comment section.

This may seem harsh – but part of the website’s ‘fairness policy’.
