Thursday the RCMP’s Community Support & Enforcement Team (CSET), executed a search warrant at “Green Essence”, an illegal marijuana dispensary, at 409 Martin Street, in Penticton.
The investigation confirmed the storefront did not have a licence to sell marijuana, and that it was selling the drug to anyone, whether they had a medical license or not.
Over the past several months, police have warned the business owner to cease the sale of the drug.
Seized : approximately 15 pounds of bud marijuana, numerous kinds of edibles, such as cookies and honey, along with oils and waxes, and a large amount of cash.
Many of these packaged products were infused with potent amounts of THC, namely “Shatter”. “Even if marijuana was legal today, the kinds of THC infused products they were selling would not be legal even in that framework”, explains Cst. James Grandy.
Staff and patrons found inside the establishment were identified, and subsequently released pending further investigation. Charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) are being considered.
Marijuana remains a controlled drug under the law, for which the RCMP have a duty to enforce.
