As I was out for a ride on the bicycle today I chose to ride down Sumac Road – Approximately halfway to Road 7, I saw an amazing sight.

I’d include a picture for the regular doubters, but carried no camera.

What I witnessed was an orchard worker, not likely a local, with a hoe, digging up puncture vine plants. Not likely doing it out of charity (during working hours) so my thanks go out to the orchardist for taking care of this on his/her property. This assuredly elevates you above your neighbours who can’t be bothered. Tourists coming to town have trouble buying patch kits and pumps to deal with this.

Want to ride to a winery? Good luck. The gravel margins of our roads are loaded with seeds. Hwy 97 included. Every single rural Oliver roadway suffers from this problem. Sure would be nice if there was a way to rid ourselves of this pestilence. One of the few cases where I think education may be the solution. Kind of
like how water use ads go.
