On August 15 at approximately 12:00pm a Ford F150 towing a tent trailer was side swiped by a Nissan Pathfinder on Highway 3 just east of Wagon Wheel Road on the Anarchist Mountain approximately 25 km east of Osoyoos.
Extensive damage was caused to both vehicles. The F150 and tent trailer were rendered inoperable and were blocking Highway 3. The road remained blocked for approximately 1 hr and 45 minutes. The driver of the Nissan, 42 year old Jeffrey Pelly is wanted on an outstanding warrant for Failing to Comply with a Probation Order and fled the scene in the Nissan only to ditch it a short distance away before fleeing through bushes on foot. Police Searched the area for several hours with a police dog from Penticton and an RCMP air plane from Kelowna.
Pelly has not been located. Pelly was last seen wearing dark pants, a light coloured shirt, red hat and a black back pack. He is a white male, approximately 5′ 9″ tall and of slim build. Police are asking anyone to refrain from picking up hitch hikers and to call 911 if anyone matching those descriptors is seen in the area. The driver of the F150 and her two young children were shaken and assessed by EHS.
