On August 11th, 2018 at approximately 9:30 pm Oliver RCMP were attending the South Okanagan General Hospital assisting with a female in distress. While in the emergency room a hospital staff member, who had just gotten off shift, ran inside and advised that she had just walked out to her vehicle and observed a male inside of it rummaging around. The staff member was able to provide a description of the male and stated to police that he had fled toward the Oliver Community Centre.
The member updated a second member who was in the area of what had just happened and began chasing the male. After a short foot pursuit and struggle the male was taken into custody; a search incidental to arrest located a number of stolen items. This male is well known to Oliver police and the investigation is on-going.
The owner of the vehicle was able to provide a excellent description of the male which assisted police in locating and successfully arresting him. Another great example of police and the community working together to fight crime.
