Muddy Boots
The army sergeant didn’t like it that one of the soldiers would kneel by the bed every night to pray. It irked him so much that one night he picked up his muddy boots and threw them at him. One hit him on the head and stunned the soldier for a few moments. “Alright,” thought the sergeant, “that’ll put a stop to him!”
The next day the sergeant found his boots back at his own bed, cleaned and polished. He discovered that the praying soldier had done it. At that point it was the sergeant who was stunned. This was not the expected result. It was the sergeant who was stopped in his tracks, not the soldier. As a result the sergeant decided that he needed what that soldier had, a strong faith in God.
