Young Farmers Project is sponsored by Hester Creek Winery as part of their Farm to School Salad Bar program.
The project is an important extra-curricular, educational prong of the Farm 2 School program at OES that has been growing since 2015. Throughout the project – students from grades K-6 plan an edible garden and apply for seed money to start-up their garden. They plant and tend that garden throughout the summer, then have the opportunity to market their harvested produce at a variety of venues in the late summer and early fall. Through the project students are able to experience firsthand the processes involved in getting food from the farm to the table, and becoming contributors in their local economy.
