B and E's in Rockcliffe – suspect nabbed and goes to court

On March 15th, 2018 at approximately 4:30 pm Oliver RCMP responded to a report of a possible Break and Enter to a home in the 900 block of Fairview Road. Oliver members attended and confirmed that entry had been gained through a rear door. No one was located inside the home but a number of rooms had been rummaged through.
While on scene a neighbour approached police stating his residence had also been broken into and a firearm, amongst other items, were stolen.
While investigating the report of the new Break and Enter another neighbour approached police and advised that his flat deck truck had recently been stolen.
Osoyoos RCMP and Regional PDS attended and assisted Oliver RCMP with this large scale investigation.
Police began immediate patrols and continued to talk to numerous witnesses. Through investigation it was discovered that the suspect and the stolen vehicle were observed on a property in Oliver. Police attended the property and subsequently arrested Michael WERNER for numerous offences, including Break and Enter. There were also 3 outstanding Arrest Warrants for Werner including a Canada Wide Warrant for Unlawfully at Large.
As members were dealing with WERNER, a third report of a Break and Enter was received from the same neighbourhood on Fairview where entry was gained through the rear door and a number of items were stolen.
The stolen firearm, along with the other stolen items, were located on the property of where Werner was arrested and were seized by police.
Oliver RCMP would like to thank the community for providing information to police which helped lead to the arrest of Werner. Having community support like this proved extremely beneficial in this investigation and did not go unnoticed by members of Oliver Detachment.
Werner is currently charged with Break and Enter to a Dwelling House x2 and Possession of a Firearm and Cross Bow while being prohibited from doing so. This investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected. Werner has been remanded in custody, his next court appearance is March 21st, 2018.
