Hummingbirds
They’ll soon be here! Hummingbirds are amazing. Their size, beauty and even aggressiveness are only outdone by their agility. They can fly forwards, backwards, up, down and even hover while beating their wings 50 – 80 times a second. Huge breast muscles make up 40% of the bird’s weight. Ounce for ounce some of them must be among the most aggressive fighters when it comes to food.
Wing design is very specialized. Where other birds have something like elbow and wrist joints, hummingbirds have a rigid structure, making it more like a stiff paddle. Not only are the bones, muscles and tendons that operate the wings uniquely designed, but the brain and nervous system that control these are very specialized.
Biochemical engineers have attempted to duplicate this complex system of biomechanical wonders but in spite spending huge amounts of time and money they have not been successful. If they did achieve this, it would simply prove that hummingbirds did not happen by chance and natural selection but by very intelligent design.
Hummingbirds are a marvelous design by a Creator.
