The Osoyoos Festival Society, Canada Day Fireworks and the Royalty Committee are slated to grab the biggest pieces of the pie as the town prepares to hand out more than $60,000 in Community Service Grants.
At Monday’s committee of the whole meeting, town council will peruse the short list of recommendations from staff and decide who gets funded and who doesn’t.
The town received more that $100,000 in requests for grants from the $65,000 program.
Organizations who made the short list include:
- Osoyoos Festival Society $6,500
- Osoyoos Senior Citizens Society $2,082.15
- Osoyoos Ambassador Committee $5,000
- High School Bursaries $3,000
- Canada Day Fireworks $6,000
- Osoyoos Elks Lodge $3,000
- International Curling Club $3,000
- Royal Canadian Legion $1,109.28
- Osoyoos Lake Water Quality $3,000
- Desert Valley Hospice Society $1,000
- Archery Program $4,000
- Osoyoos Gift Cupboard $1,200
- Osoyoos Pickleball Club $2,500
- SO Integrated Community Services $3,500
- Osoyoos Elementary PAC $2,000
- Desert Park Society $3,500
- Osoyoos Minor Baseball $2,500
- Osoyoos Lake Paddle Club $2,500
- Osoyoos Secondary School $3,000
- McKinney Nordic Ski Club $1,500
- 232 Bighorn Air Cadet Squadron $1,500
- Reserved for sports teams and individuals $2,000
Town policy dictates that grants under the program may be for special events, facility rentals, tax requirements, special projects and insurance expenses. Applicants must be non-profit in nature ad provide a service for residents of Osoyoos.
