Ron Teneycke, 55,  sentenced to an indefinite period of time in a federal penitentiary for a 35 life of crime. The sentence issued by provincial court judge Richard Hewson who has presided at the dangerous offender hearing for many months. The judge sighted much testimony by doctors, prison and probation staff but in the end he said: Teneycke prefers a stable prison setting and has not proven to be able to be treated for his conditions and behaviors.
Teneycke’s shooting victim, Wayne Belleville, of Oliver,  said outside the courtroom he was pleased with the sentence and glad that this was to be the last time he heard about Teneckye.
Belleville said Tenecyke had abused the court system long enough.  Belleville: “He looks like a pathetic asshole.” Belleville was shot in the back, threaten again with a gun, had his truck stolen, left for dead on the side of the road, spent 8 days in a Kelowna’s hospital and was traumatized like other victims.
Many of the victims sat in the back row of the courtroom – at the conclusion they shook hands, gave a hug and appeared thankful it was finally over.

Teneycke pled guilty to four charges in connection with a robbery at the Oliver Eastside Store and the shooting of Belleville in the summer of 2015 east of Oliver on McKinney Rd.
The charges included robbery and discharging a firearm with intent to wound.
 

The resident of  Okanagan Falls was the subject of a massive manhunt in the South Okanagan after he robbed the Oliver retail outlet on July 16, then shot a man on McKinney Road. The multi-day manhunt for Teneycke, a prolific offender, ended with his capture on July 23, 2015, in Cawston.
As the case slowly moved through court, questions were raised about whether Teneycke was criminally responsible by reason of mental disorder.
Teneycke’s lawyer Michael Welsh said they now have to await the results of the report on his mental condition.
Judge Richard Hewson said he was satisfied there are reasonable grounds that Teneycke might be found to be a dangerous long-term offender and approved the request for an assessment.
