McKinney Ski Club applied for a $5000 Grant in Aid from the Town in an effort to replaced a mechanized trail groomer. Town council agreed that the programme run by this organization benefits the community and many children.
Council authorized a grant for $2500 and urged club members to seek assistance from Area A and C of the Regional District. The programme has sponsored 300 local elementary school students (Osoyoos and Oliver) in grades 4 and 5 to try out the trails each winter for the last decade. A new to them groomer will likely cost $45 thousand dollars.

Oliver Wine Capital of Canada Triathlon & Half Iron Events: Permission sought by Joe Dixon’s June event to allow motorized boats on Tuc-el-nuit Lake for two days of racing. Power boats not allowed on the lake. Council granted permission.

Fire Chief Bob Graham appeared in person to deliver a monthly report to council members. Graham talked to council about the level of training that members of the department have acquired stating that 12 members have been trained as fire instructors ( some awaiting certification).
That 100 percent of members are trained for exterior fire approach and 50 percent trained to attack a fire inside a structure. Every two years the local fire department hosts a large training event and this year it will happen again.
May 3, 4, and 5th – fire fighters from around the province will meet and train in Oliver.

Megale property – (this is the former Trump(Efford) land on the east side of Tuc-el-nuit Lake. Zoning changes were approved by council for 3 new lots – 2 for a single family dwelling and one lot for a duplex. A public hearing on the matter scheduled for March 26th.
