Police in the South Okanagan have been saying for some time – resources are thin and too many people are leaving cars and trucks unlocked presenting a great opportunity for thieves.
Soon resources will be directed to serious crime says Ted De Jager, Superintendent of the RCMP in the South Okanagan and Similkameen. De Jager (shown above in his office in Penticton) says persons affected by thefts should continue to call in and report a crime and get a file number for insurances purposes but he doubts there is time to investigate further. The files allow people to know where crime is occurring.
De Jager also told RDOS directors Thursday that police will be targeting dispensaries of cannabis products – as it is still an illegal activity.
