Carson Vera Horn
(1929 – 2018)
Carson Vera Horn of Oliver, BC passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 88 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister Nina (Metro) Kosyk, brother Nic Shugalo (Sheila Turgeon), and brother Ed (Brenda) Shugalo, together with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Hope.
Born in Borodichi, Poland in 1929, Carson immigrated to Manitoba at the age of nine with her family.
Carson was employed as a secretary for British American Oil, for the Australia Trade Commission, and for the CBC. Her hobbies and interests were as exciting and far-flung as her career. Carson was a world-wide traveller, visiting Russia, Israel, France, Hawai’i, Italy, Alaska, and many other places around the globe. She was an avid photographer, capturing every special moment and beautiful vista. She did all she could to stay fit and was a life-long learner. Quieter pursuits were gardening and reading. Most important to her was visiting with family.
Carson will be remembered for faithfully visiting friends at Sunnybank and McKinney. She attended the Oliver Alliance Church.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday February 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the Oliver Alliance Church, followed by a reception. A graveside service will be held at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
