Crocus 2018
This is the 14th year that I have allowed myself the pleasure to pen a bit of attempted poetry about the arrival of the majestic crocus. Some folks asked to be included in my address list just for this moment. Some have written back their own crocus poem, some send pictures, many send thanks, and, yes, one or two yell at me as an unwelcomed spammer. Ah well. Enjoy.
Can this even be real?
January 26 already the joy
The cold they do not feel
Fresh green sprouts I see
An example of pure zeal
Though skies are gray
And snow remains
They come to the fray
Unstoppable these feisty buds
Determined they will stay
I cannot help but glow a smile
As nature so unfolds
The Queens of Spring here in their file
Showing us a happy way
To pause in joy a while
The days growing yet longer
The sun brings warmer thoughts
We too are feeling stronger
Like bulbs below the grass
Growing of you fonder
Wher’er you are on this fine day
Know this you can rely
The crocus coming out to play
Don’t seem a need to try
Enjoy the thought of them in every happy way
Best to you. Btw, that vehicle that comes around each Spring to sweep up the winter sand, it just swept past our house. Spring is undeniably here.
