2 years ago Argon Electrical & Solar Services donated 2 solar panels and the electrical work needed to power the system at the Oliver Food Bank. Our plan was to have like-minded people or groups make similar donations to have enough panels to offset the electrical consumption. Essentially freeing them from an electrical bill.
That means more of every dollar donated will go directly to helping people in need.
3 more panels were added later in 2016 by a private donor. Then in 2017, Town of Oliver (Mayor Ron Hovanes) and the RDOS Director (Terry Schafer), the Kiwanis club, Dr. Jordan Noftle and Ian Gibson all stepped up and made donations to bring the total count of installed panels to 20. The energy produced by all those panels should come very close to covering all of the electrical needs of the Food Bank.
Food Bank spokesperson – Jim Oullette wanted to stress that none of the funds for the project came from general revenue which is where the food is purchased from. He’s very thankful for the generosity and caring shown by the people of Oliver.
