Dave Mattes with Mayor Ron Hovanes Saturday evening. Mattes’ vote count (365) almost the same as the next three candidates combined (366).

Mattes told ODN he was please to see the hard work of all the candidates. Only four of eight candidates showed for the vote count: Mattes, Aimee Grice, Peter McKenna and Pat Hampson. With 811* votes cast it was considered a good turnout. In a by-election in 2013 only 767 people voted. That was about 22 percent of the possible voters. In a general election turn out can range from 30 to 60 percent depending on a race for the mayor’s chair or a referendum question of great importance to the community.
In 2013 Linda Larson stepped down as Councillor to be replaced by Larry Schwartzenberger.
In 2017 Jack Bennest stepped down as Councillor to be replaced by Dave Mattes
