Who inspires you? What motivates you?
Is it the fitness pictures you see in magazines or on TV commercials? Or is it the over weight neighbor you see leaving the house every morning to go for a walk or jog or maybe the gym? What about the single parent who has to take care of the kids and still makes time to exercise daily? Have you known anyone to go through cancer treatment & still manage to continue with being consistent in getting in some activity most days? What about the guy living down the road who had a heart attack a few months ago? You see him out for his walk at least once a day. The senior lady who goes out line dancing or Zumba or Aqua fit classes at least 3 times a week. And then there’s the old couple who faithfully walk their dog a couple of times a day. These people are Strong! These people are determined. These people aren’t letting life’s circumstances take over completely. These people are demonstrating self-discipline. These people value their health and life. These people want to feel better so they are doing what helps them feel better. These people can be your inspiration and motivate you to get started. People who are struggling with extra challenges in their lives & yet keep up with their healthy routine are the ones who might make you think… if they can do it, I can do it. And you can do it, just start moving! Do something fun!
Fitness models may work hard & have the look you desire but it’s temporary. It’s the people we see and talk to that can truly make an impact on us. So join your neighbor or follow their example. Sign up for a gym pass or try out some classes. Walk or bike along the river. You’ll never regret it. There’s always something that suits your personal needs. You don’t have to go jogging or join a boot camp if that is not what will work for you. I always suggest to get started with walking if you have been sedentary. If you have a leg or foot problem, chair exercises or floor exercises will do the trick. Some people can learn to work up a sweat without even moving their feet out of place. Huh? Yup… that’s what I said. Don’t believe me? Neither did some who learned it was true. There is always something that can be done that will suit your needs.
