Our family has lived in the small community of Willowbrook for the past 13 years.
My father Patrick Lantz has been a dedicated volunteer fireman for the Willowbrook department ever since the first year that we moved here. As kids, my friends and I were taken on fire truck rides with my dad for our birthdays, and he taught us how to work the sirens and safety equipment. My dad is the most hard working and dedicated man that I know, and the other members of the department would say the same. He has spent the majority of his time helping others; from fighting major fires in the Okanagan area to fixing customers cars from dawn until midnight.
It’s the times when you are always on call in case of emergency, getting up at two in the morning when the community alarm sounds, and the fire pager starts to ring. It is the 10 hour night shifts, watching and controlling a fire that needs to be contained, and having to go to work at seven the next morning, running on no hours of sleep. My father does it all. His positive and hard work ethic is what has gotten him to where he is today, as the new Fire Chief of the Willowbrook Volunteer Fire Department.
I am incredibly proud of his accomplishment , and the members of the department are very lucky to have him as their leader. Congratulations Dad!
