New welcome signs around Osoyoos will cost $150K to have built and installed.
Two two town councillors and 2 Destination Osoyoos staff picked a design option from Landmark Signs, which will cost $146,276.
The option chosen was one of nine designs submitted. The Victoria-based sign company will remove and dispose of the current welcome signs and then install the new fixtures.
Chief administrative officer Barry Romanko said the north welcome sign will be moved closer to town — just outside of the town’s north boundary — and the location of the east welcome sign will be tweaked but will remain in the same general area. The south and west welcome signs will remain in the same locations.
The actual design has not been finalized. Romanko said the new welcome signs will be backlit with LED lights and will require less maintenance than the current signs.
