Surprised
I am part of team from our church that conducts church services in McKinney Place, Sunnybank and Heritage House. We take our turn along with other teams from a number of churches. I was drawn to the topic of heaven as I prepared for one service at Sunnybank a while ago. In the group that assembled was a man who was wheeled in on a recliner that actually folded back into something like a bed. I did not recognize the person and he seemed unresponsive. We sang and spoke and prayed about the great prospect that lies before us. After it was over I tried to have a word with each one who had attended. The man on the stretcher turned out to be Pastor Peter Neave from Park Drive Church, who himself had been conducting such services for years, and whom I knew personally. He was unable to communicate clearly but I could tell that he knew who I was.
A few days later I came back for a visit with him and found him alert and talkative. He mentioned how much he appreciated the thoughts shared about heaven on the previous Wednesday. The one who I thought was completely out of it with no idea of what was going on was the one to whom it meant the most. A few days later Peter died. Now he was personally experiencing what we could only talk about.
There are surprises along the sunny road of life,
