Saturday Julia Mackey, author and performer presented an outstanding one person show, Jake’s Gift on stage at the Frank Venables Theatre. Based on the 60th anniversary of D Day at Juno Beach, her experiences over 6 days there talking with veterans, she synthesized this show.

At the end of the presentation, Julia presented a print based on three photos to the local Legion, Branch 97. The title of the print is Jake’s Gift and encapsulates the plot of the play.

In return the Legion presented Julia with a medal to acknowledge her 10 years of presenting this award winning play. Oliver was honoured to be one of only 9 venues across Canada this year where the play was presented.
