Wind a factor in two back to back fires in Oliver

First 5:35 pm – dispatch to a shed fire on Highway 97 (7000 Block) north of Oliver on west side of roadway. Cause not confirmed but shed near a fire pit. Three units put it out quickly but wind made a lot of smoke – visible from quite a distance. Two adjacent homes near the flames.

Second 5:50 pm – dispatch to a grass fire in an orchard west of Sawmill Rd that climbed up the hillside towards Yarrow Rd presenting a situation where firefighters had to be on top and below to control the growth of the flames. Cause not known.
