Penticton RCMP continue their investigation into the case of missing 92 year old Mary Ruth Esta who is suspected to have lost her life in a Lakeside Road house fire on October 11th. Esta’s remains have not been located following an extensive search of the debris from the fire and the police have an active missing person file open.
“Due to her age and medical condition it is unlikely that she could have got out, and we understand that it may be unlikely that she is ever located”, advised Esta’s step-son Rick Gammer, “Our family is very appreciative of the efforts of all first responders and realize what a difficult job it is for them.”
The Penticton RCMP have no reason to suspect foul play or criminality at this time and continue to work with the family to explore possible investigative avenues.

ODN asked the question; Where is she ? An honest and forthright question. No one knows. It’s a mystery – how can a 92 year old woman die in a fire and leave no trace. She had been seen 3 hours before the fire by family members. Those in the Penticton Fire Department and local RCMP detachment involved in the search should be commended for their dedication.
There is an answer – someone is not talking!
