Recently a person accused Oliver Daily News of being biased in its coverage of news and by comments the Publisher makes on occasion.

Our purpose to inform and disseminate information in the most objective (but informed) way. Sometimes that actually rankles the feathers of some birds. Why?

Because the opinion or the statement or the reporting is not what is expected – or in most cases – where someone else takes a position which is different.

Take the great Centennial Park vs Hotel Debate. Hot topic, fixed yes or no ideas – very little common ground. ODN has respected each view – pro or con and stated its position as well.

 We respect all opinions – stated with care – with no meandering into personal insult.

On occasion discipline is used. Rarely. Only one reader in a e-box at the moment.  Why? A desire to smear – call people incompetent etc.
