September 15 to 17 Okanagan Nation Salmon Feast and Celebration
Join the Okanagan Nation Salmon Feast and Celebration and honour the sacredness of the river. This annual event takes place at sx̌ʷəx̌ʷnitkʷ Provincial Park, in Okanagan Falls, BC. It is one of the goals of the Syilx (Okanagan) Nation to carry on the work of their ancestors and Elders who taught the importance of preserving and revitalizing the traditions, customs, and language of the Syilx people. The event involves traditional performances and ceremonies, a canoe paddle, stick game tournament, and on the final day (Sunday) a salmon feast and ceremony for snxa?l’iwlem (to honour the sacredness of the river). The event is free and open to the public. Camping is available on a first come, first serve basis. Dinner will be provided on Friday, Lunch and dinner on Saturday and Lunch on Sunday. Details here
