More than two years after the decision was made on where to put Oliver’s charging station for electric cars, the facility opened for business on Monday.

In May 2015 council decided to put the dual-outlet facility in the parking lot outside the Oliver Visitor Centre on Station Street. Two other options – Town Hall and a Parks and Rec site near the lawn bowling green – were rejected in favour of the old CPR building.

The new charging station includes one proprietary outlet for Tesla vehicles only and one for other manufacturers.
