Top picture – Penticton Mayor had to wear this – his team lost to RDOS team on annual event of Ride to Work.
Below picture – another round of discussion on a compost site in the region with a gallery full of Marron Valley residents unhappy that their neighborhood picked as Number One for such a compost facility.
Both MLA’s have expressed concern on behalf of residents.
Summerland was chosen second. District of Summerland Mayor Peter Waterman told directors today that any closed facility should have NO odour but his concerns are about transporting organic material through his municipality if the district is chosen.
CAO Bill Newell seem to introduce a new concept telling the board that a compost site is actually just a step in larger plan to reduce the load on Campbell Mtn. Saying if Penticton’s organic waste site can be closed – then the solid waste (garbage) stream can be used with a BIO – cover.
All plans are set to save money on the long run, be a bit more green in approach to a messy smelly business.
