
Evacuation of 18 Homes in Kaleden Due to Fire
A 6.5 hectare fire, started along Oak Ave in Kaleden, BC, has lead to the evacuation of 18 homes. The fire is presently being fought by the Kaleden Fire Department with support from the BC Wildfire Service and the Penticton Fire Department.
Presently 18 homes have been placed under mandatory Evacuation Order. These homes in Kaleden, BC are:

All residents and visitors evacuated due to this fire are asked to register with Emergency Social Services (ESS) at the Penticton Community Centre at 325 Power Street in Penticton, BC. Residents unable to register in person can register by contacting 250-809-6561. ESS can provide help for people that have been evacuated by this fire.
Evacuated residents should close all windows and doors and shut off all gas and electrical appliances, other than refrigerators and freezers. Gates should be latched but not locked. For their safety, pets should be taken in pet kennels or on leash. Critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and Keys) should be taken only if they are immediately available.
Gather family members and any neighbours in need of assistance together. Try to reduce the number of vehicles using local roads. Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency service.
