2017-9524 Drowning in Penticton
On June 28th at 3:18 pm, Penticton RCMP, BC Ambulance and Penticton Fire Department were called to assist a male in distress in the Okanagan River Channel at the Green Mountain Road bridge. Five men were floating the channel with their rafts tied together and went to either side of the middle bridge abutment. All were ejected, four men were able to make it safely to shore down stream. The 5th man was entangled in a rope and was unable to keep himself above the water in the fast moving current. Penticton Fire Department utilized personal water-craft and were able to bring the male to shore where life saving efforts were made by emergency services personnel and he was transported to Penticton Regional Hospital. The 20 year old male was pronounced dead at the hospital and the matter is being investigated by the BC Coroners Service.
2017-9519, Man Dies in Motorcycle Accident in OK Falls
On June 28th at 1:04 pm, Penticton RCMP were called to the scene of a motorcycle accident on Allendale Lake Road in Okanagan Falls. A 56 year old male resident of Penticton was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed and alcohol were not considered to be factors in the accident. The BC Coroners Service is investigating.
