As Oliver Parks and Recreation Society is preparing for their new “Roots and Fruits Fair” during the Oliver Sunshine Festival this summer, they will also be introducing an exciting new fundraiser for the event called the Raft Race Fundraiser. This fundraiser will take place on July 15th at Rotary Beach in Oliver.
For the Raft Race Fundraiser, teams of up to 5, are challenged to create their own boat or raft using only cardboard and duct tape. These creations will then be put to the test on Tuc-el-nuit Lake to see which boat will stay afloat the longest and be able to complete the course. Prizes will be rewarded to rafts that embrace the spirit of the race and celebrate their uniqueness through decorations and/or costumes. As part of the event, a Barbeque will be held at Rotary Beach for participants and spectators.
An Early Bird rate for teams is being offered until July 1st. The group registration fee is $75 for a team of adults to sign up, and $45 for a youth team (16 and under). After July 1st, this will go up to $100 for a team of adults, and $60 for a youth team.
