What would we think of a son or daughter who was provided with everything needed and then demanded more? How would we feel if that child used everything available for personal benefit and hardly ever did anything helpful in response nor ever expressed any appreciation? Would we put up with an attitude of entitlement when the child complained that he/she didn’t get even more and better things?
Before we get very angry even thinking about such a scene, let us ask if we treat God that way. Every day I am at the receiving end of His goodness and grace. Do I take that for granted? Continually I am surrounded by opportunities galore, marvellous beauty and endless things to explore and discover yet do I complain if things don’t go the way I want? Why would we think that there is no limit to what God will put up with? Thankfully He is a forgiving and compassionate God. It is very worthwhile to show our appreciation by the way we treat our environment, other people and God Himself.
