That’s rich can mean that some story that has just been shared includes some over the top images or ideas or plot, etc. In this case rich is about abundance or fullness, maybe really funny. That which is being called rich is almost beyond belief. A rich sound is one that would be like that of a full orchestra, many facets, round and deep and delicate all at the same time. To describe a colour as rich is to express that it is almost alive. Not just red, but a rich, luxurious, palpable, impactful red. Now that is a rich colour, huh. Richness is warm. Rich Text Format is a file format intended to allow easy transfer of files between platforms. When I wrote my first book, using a PC and my editor used a Mac, we sent the files back and forth in Rich Text Format (RTF).
Imagine someone described as having a rich personality. Do you like them? I sure do. They have a brightness about them that is not blinding but fascinating. They are truly interesting and not because they talk your ear off. They listen more than they talk, yet when they do talk what they speak about they actually know about. They have probably travelled or had an exotic disease or studied strange things and play an instrument or two
It used to be that having $1 million made you rich, financially. Nowadays, not so much. Yet the tapestry made centuries ago remains a rich piece of art and has actually increased in value. I suppose there are many things that become more rich with time, like a fine red wine. That wine increases in richness but soon, maybe 12 to 20 years out, it loses taste and value, just like the million dollars
A rich deposit means the ore in the ground is plentiful. Rich usually means more than the usual, in a big way. A rich history would mean that there is a lot of detail recorded about the event or thing. The riches are not always things. The richness of grandchildren is value beyond description, and so it goes.
