The Penticton Indian Band elected a mostly-new band council Wednesday evening, with results of the election made public early Thursday morning on Facebook.

Altogether, eight councillors were voted in, among 30 candidates, including three incumbents: Clint George, Joseph Pierre and Tim Lezard.

Former chief Jonathan Kruger was voted back into council.

The new council and the votes they received are:

• Elliott Tonasket – 162 votes
• Caxasket Joseph Pierre – 148
• Suzanne Johnson – 143
• Naomi Gabriel – 141
• John Kruger – 138
• Clint George Wapupxn – 129
• Denise Lecoy – 123
• Tim Lezard – 120
