The Penticton Indian Band elected a mostly-new band council Wednesday evening, with results of the election made public early Thursday morning on Facebook.
Altogether, eight councillors were voted in, among 30 candidates, including three incumbents: Clint George, Joseph Pierre and Tim Lezard.
Former chief Jonathan Kruger was voted back into council.
The new council and the votes they received are:
- Elliott Tonasket – 162 votes
- Caxasket Joseph Pierre – 148
- Suzanne Johnson – 143
- Naomi Gabriel – 141
- John Kruger – 138
- Clint George Wapupxn – 129
- Denise Lecoy – 123
- Tim Lezard – 120
