How does one explain the meaning of gorgeous? It is such a big, big word. One person pointed out that is starts with the word ‘gorge’. To me that is about something very big and very deep and that has been in development for a long time. So if one points and says, ‘wow that is so gorgeous’, I guess it would have to be something kind of overwhelming in one way or another. OK then.
A gorgeous person has beauty of great measure. I like the word sumptuous as a descriptor of this kind of beauty. And a person considered gorgeous would have a generous, accepting nature, like the painter Maude Lewis. It seems that a gorgeous person is in the making for a few generations. Parenting and re-parenting brings the influence of grandparents into the formula. Who do you know that is gorgeous?
Recognizing gorgeous beauty, how is it that most people can agree on what is and what is not gorgeous? It seems that we have some kind of internal sense of gorgeous. Where does that come from? How is it that so many of us have it? I had to pick up my jaw the first time I saw a Rembrandt painting. I recognized something within that was undeniable. Some say this is proof that we all come from the Source of pure love
There is so much that I can identify as gorgeous (for me). An Einstein may refer to a gorgeous formula or theory where I’d just go blank about it. I appreciate a gorgeous car, especially an older, powerful and elegant design that was, at least in part, hand built. I’m expressing my personal values in my identification of what is gorgeous to me. You needn’t fully agree. What then makes your list?
Something self identified as gorgeous has an aspect to it that I am invested in. I find gorgeous buildings where others find gorgeous flowers and others still find gorgeous ideas. It seems to have to do with what I am deeply interested in, maybe even passionate about. Use the word ‘gorgeous’ with care and respect and notice what triggers it within you. When you appreciate gorgeous, you are gorgeous.
