They opened the new Oliver Community Weight Room with a ribbon-cutting Monday morning, then met as a Board for their monthly meeting Monday evening.
Among the new business items the Oliver Parks and Recreation Society discussed, Grant in Aid Requests came from Oliver Alliance Church, 232 Bighorn Air Cadet Squadron, Oliver Curling Club, and Shopper’s Drug Mart.
After discussion, free weight-room memberships were given to 323 Bighorn Air Cadet Squadron, Oliver Curling Club, and Shopper’s Drug Mart for their fundraising initiatives.
The Parks and Rec Society also approved the use of space to Oliver Alliance Church for their annual Christmas dinner.
Two more items came up for discussion.
“We will be adding a new router in the Community Hall so that our Wi-Fi has more range. This has kindly been donated by CanadaFit,” explained Interim Parks and Recreation Manager Natalie Alexander. “And Tony Munday of Munday Media was successful in getting our Design Services Contract for our next two leisure guides.”
The Society will meet next in January.
