Archibald Peter Kruger Special Forces – Canadian Army born June 22, 1930 at Manitoulin Island in Ontario.
Enlisted in 1950 and deployed to Korea. Served with UN forces in the Far East, the Congo and the Suez, transferred from infantry to Military Police rising to the rank of Sgt. and discharged honorably in 1967 at Calgary.
Married Jean in 1953 after coming back from Korea, three sons, one daughter. All the boys, Peter, Michael and Paul – enlisted in the Canadian Forces. Jean died in 2013 after 60 years of marriage.
Archie likes to mention that after his military service he and his wife operated the first Shell station in Calgary and the first Mac’s Milk corner store. Archie and Jean retired to Oliver in 1998.
Archie lives in Oliver at Riverside Villas. He is so proud of his family.
He will be at the Legion on Friday at the age of 86.
