This is happening in Kelowna but could be evident here and maybe some will be inspired to help in our backwoods.
Last weekend – Okanagan Forest Task Force set out to clean the campsite of missing man Terrance Michael Landon. President of OFTF Kane Blake says “Today was a huge success, not only did we manage to clean Terrance’s camp site and cabin but we also cleaned up 3 other locations”.
One location included 4 vehicles and a lot of garbage. Spread out all over the dump site included many needles and spilt chemicals. Blake says “It was a complete disaster and something needs to be done with the land now as there are chemicals all over the ground”.
The group managed to collect a whopping 10.5 ton’s of scrap steel from our local forests that day. This fast growing group has taken cleaning our forest and illegal dump sites to a whole new level.
Blake says “It is our pleasure and we do it for the community and the wildlife but its sad that we have to and that some people just don’t seem to care about our forests.”
