Work

A work of art is something made that is elegant, beautiful, simple, high utility and deserves a moment of awe. On the other hand to say that someone is a real piece of work means they are none of these things, except maybe the awe. It could be hard to believe a person could be so out of touch with reality, do the things they do, seem to be oblivious to their own impact on the world around them

A working girl is a prostitute. Having a strong work ethic means acting in a way that is loyal to the job and to doing the right things at work, always on time, stay until the job is done. That kind of thing. A work horse is one that might be in harness, pulling something, rather than a race horse. Working papers provide permission for an immigrant to have a job and pay taxes in this country.

Working class people are just us folks, not aristocracy. A working committee is a group of people who have accepted a task to do together. A work in process is an effort to complete a task but it is not yet done. Some people reno their houses this way for years. The really fun idea is to see our lives as a work in process. Never quite done, always a little adjustment toward a better me/you. Nice

To do work is to apply a force through a distance (physics). It is about moving something, like if I lift a brick up on to the table I do a certain amount of work, depending on the weight (mass) of the brick, the height of the table and how fast I do it. My mind can work on a problem like finding the two ways to make a thousand out of eight eights. No visible motion, just like when a chemical change is happening, like starting to heat water

Often, ‘doing’ work involves mental and physical aspects working together. When something ‘works’ it accomplishes the intended task smoothly and effectively and produces a good result. Sometimes I am working quite well. Sometimes not so much. The effect I’m seeking, as most are, is to enjoy a fruitful life. My Coaching strives to help folks get to their own sweet spot.
