While reviewing items on Facebook this morning we came across an item that stated ” No Frills and Dollarama ” stores not selling poppies.

Both stores cite safety concerns about theft. The Legion is quick to point out that they have never lost a poppy donation box in Oliver.

“We have been told we may not leave a poppy box at their store, they are fearful a box will be stolen. They will allow a legion member to stand in the doorway and collect donations … But will not allow donation boxes on site. As we are a small branch and do not have the manpower to have someone there all the time … This represents a very large loss of potential donations to our veterans.

It is heartbreaking to be essentially turned away from one of these location, we can only hope that as consumers shop at other locations around town they continue Oliver’s well known reputation of generosity and kindness.” – Lest we Forget
