Oliver Arena and Sun Bowl Arena in Osoyoos have one main focus this weekend
The sport of ringette.
Here’s how the Ringette BC website describes the sport: “Ringette is a Canadian invention that is one of the fastest team sports on ice. Ringette emphasizes sportsmanship, fitness, skill and finesse and discourages physical contact between players. Ringette is designed so that every player makes an equally important contribution to the team’s success. Ringette is a game that is played for life-once you start, you won’t want to give it up. ”
The sport uses a rubber ring and all players, with the exception of goaltenders, use a straight stick.
This game featured Coquitlam, in gold uniforms, against Kelowna.
The game of ringette is consuming ice time at both facilities through the weekend.
Games continue thriough Sunday. Please follow the sked below, get out to either arena, and cheer on the girls.
